I do freelance print and email design for the Scholastic Reading Club. I create monthly flyers (covers and interiors), teacher guides and promotional pieces (stickers, finger puppets, activity books, book marks etc.) that reach millions of teachers yearly throughout the U.S.
Managing Senior Art Director, 2005–13
Direct Brands, Inc. NYC
I managed a team of designers and production staff conducting performance reviews, hiring interviews and making employment decisions.
I oversaw the Columbia House DVD and TV clubs along with 5 book clubs and New Member acquisition pieces. Most of these clubs had 18-21 mailings per year. Each mailing consisted of an outer envelope, 32 page catalog, assorted flyers and a reply card. I worked very closely with Marketing, Merchandising, Editorial and my creative team to maintain good relationships and produce work that met their expectations and beyond!
I also worked on projects for our business development team that ranged from Movie studio flyers that helped maintain our relationships with them to presenting ideas about potential partnerships for our company that would enable us to sell our products in new markets.
In addition, I designed original book jackets for the Black Expressions Book Club and a series of book jackets for the 65th Anniversary of The History Book Club.
